A psalm. A song.
For the Sabbath day.
1 It is good to praise the Lord
and make music to your name, O Most High,
2 proclaiming your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night,
3 to the music of the ten-stringed lyre
and the melody of the harp.
4 For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord;
I sing for joy at what your hands have done.
5 How great are your works, Lord,
how profound your thoughts!
6 Senseless people do not know,
fools do not understand,
7 that though the wicked spring up like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they will be destroyed forever.
8 But you, Lord, are forever exalted.
9 For surely your enemies, Lord,
surely your enemies will perish;
all evildoers will be scattered.
10 You have exalted my horn[b] like that of a wild ox;
fine oils have been poured on me.
11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries;
my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.
12 The righteous will flourish like a palm
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
13 planted in the house of the Lord,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,
15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright;
he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”
15 To declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
The Psalmist begins with the words …It is good.
When I was a little girl, my mom would give me Castor Oil because I was a sickly child with asthma, which kept me full of colds. The Castor Oil was good for the cold, even though I didn’t feel like taking it.
You may not feel like it, but praising (thanking God is a good thing). You must learn to be your own praise leader. People go to ministries to wait on Praise teams to do it for them, or we say, we must wait until you feel something or something great happens in our life, before we can praise. You may not feel good in the morning when you wake up, but we must acknowledge Him with a thank you. It is a good thing to thank God for all that He is doing, have done and will do. Praise is a spiritual thing, meaning you can’t see praise because you are spirit and God is Spirit. We must connect to what is spiritual through our praise. You can’t analyze it, or figure it out, but thanking God is a good thing. This must be a conscious decision, not a feeling.
Praise Gets our Mind Off Ourselves
Praise takes our mind off ourselves and on God. There is no way depression and praise can exist together.
God inhabits praise Ps. 22:3 The enemy of our mind must flee
We become humble recognizing our dependence on God
Ps. 103: 2-4
Sometimes it’s a sacrifice
We must understand that our minds are the gates that need to open. When we praise, doors open for us because the focus is on God, He is the one that fights on our behalf.
It is good to Praise the Lord!!!!!
